My Scripture memory journey

My journey began when our family moved to Switzerland for about three and a half years. That time abroad deepened my longing for the Lord, who became my sustenance and provider. He answered a long-awaited prayer by blessing me with a mentor and the fellowship of diverse women through leading Bible studies. Despite its challenges, this period was a significant time of Christian growth.

In 2014, we returned to the United States, and I resumed full-time work as a nurse while pursuing my bachelor's degree. Adjusting to American life while balancing my roles as a mother of three and a wife was overwhelming. To maintain fellowship, I joined and led Bible studies, but as my coursework became more demanding, I struggled to keep up.

I deeply missed the fellowship I had in Switzerland and cried out to God for help. In January 2015, I listened to a podcast interview with Janet Pope, which inspired me to buy her book, His Word in Your Heart. God had been preparing my heart and laying the foundation for my journey with scripture memory.  A practice that has kept my mind focused on Him in all circumstances.

Even during difficult times when I struggled with rejection, loneliness, body insecurities, and unworthiness, I learned that meditating on scripture shifted my focus vertically, toward the God who created me, rather than inward on myself. When that happens, it becomes hard to dwell on negative thoughts. To me, scripture memory is life-giving. It anchors my thoughts in truth, and because I have seen its impact in my own life, I want to encourage women of all ages to meditate on and memorize God’s Word. My hope is that you, too, will be rooted and grounded in love, able to fix your mind on what is true.

My vision is that women will desire this for themselves and that they will be so enriched by the Word of God that they, in turn, will lead others to do the same. That is why I created the podcast called Scripture Memory with Alicia an audio guide to help you memorize scripture.  You can find the link on the side of this blog 👉 .   I hope that you will find this blog site useful as you grow in Christ!
